Police are searching for a man who they say yelled anti-gay slurs at a 20-year-old woman and then punched her in the head, leaving her with a fractured spine on the E train late last month.
The woman, who was with another person at the time, was engaged in an argument with the alleged homophobe shortly after 5 p.m. on November 30 when she opted to walk away. At that point, he hit her in the back of the head, shoved her to the ground, and then took off at the Forest Hills 71st Ave. Station.
A police spokesperson could not confirm which slur was used against the victim, but police sources told the Daily News that she was called a “dyke.” She was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was treated.
Video footage released by the NYPD shows the suspect carrying multiple bags, including a Duane Reade bag, and he was wearing a camouflage jacket with glasses, a black winter hat, and a backpack.
The suspect, who has not been arrested and whose identity is not known, is described by police as black, 50 to 60 years old, 5’11”, and about 220 pounds.
