Michael T. Luongo is a noted travel writer, reporter, editor, novelist, and short story author. He recently appeared on the New York LGBT Community Center's “Out at the Center” program to talk about “Gay Travels in the Muslim World (Routledge, 2007), an anthology that he edited.
Luongo, a longtime Gay City News contributor, appeared in conversation with Sam Oglesby, a critic and reporter whose work has also appeared in Gay City News.

On May 15 of this year, Luongo was honoed by the New York City chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists with its 2007 Reporting Award for Newspapers Under 100,000 in Circulation. His winning work was “Our Man In Baghdad,” a November 22-28, 2007 Gay City News cover story, in which he reported on gays in Iraq, based on the month he spent in Kurdistan and the capital last summer.
